Night of the Living Beards
So I have been a member of the bearding community in Rochester for 6 years now. It’s a great group of people, they are kind and generous. I have met some great friends at beard competitions along the East coast. And I have helped raise money for some great charities.
In Rochester, the Boomtown Brothers Facial Hair Club has been leading the way, providing meals and clothing for the homeless, raising funds and awareness for groups like men’s health, the opioid crisis and children at risk.
This year, Boomtown Brothers is raising money for Wooftown, a Rochester-area dog rescue, daycare, and boarding organization. As part of that effort, they banded together to host their annual beard competition here in Rochester.
With local participants and visiting clubs, like BAM STL and a judge from Steel City Beard and Mustache Club, the show went off without a hitch. There was also a visit from the podcast Paycheck and Red. Music was provided by 40 Rod Lightning.
My role here was as a photographer and participant. I entered in the Partial Beard category and even managed to win! What is my prize? Bragging rights and knowing that what I have done has helped people in my town.
Feel free to have a look at the event, but I’ll warn you that there are a couple of NSFW pictures so have a care.
